太陽に向かって咲く

向日葵は太陽の神の象徴とされており、名前は「日の花」という意味から名づけられました。
透かしを中心のがくに見立てて、周りに花びらと、裏面には花の裏側をイメージして描きました。

Blooming Towards the Sun

The sunflower is a symbol of the sun god, and similar to English, the Japanese name (“himawari”) means 'flower of the sun’.   The openwork center of this button represents the calyx of a sunflower, and is surrounded by petals.  The back of the button adds to the realism of the design, and the ancient kanji in the center (of the back) is the signature of the artist, me. :)
